Edge Hill College was opened on 24 Jan 1885 on Darning Road, Edge Hill, Liverpool, named after the locale in which it was sited, by a gathering of seven Liverpool representatives and donors. It was the first non-denominational instructor preparing school for ladies in England. The principle building included a primary instruction hinder, four corridors of habitation , an Assembly Hall, a library, art room, gym, address theaters, classrooms and a music room.

Somewhere around 1939 and 1946, the school was emptied to Bingley, in Yorkshire, and the Ormskirk site was ordered for utilization as a military healing center. As a major aspect of the demand, transitory hovels were raised as ward settlement, a large portion of which made due into the 1980s because of the post bellum starkness period.
